In the fall it was determined that our cousin Jamie needed to get a kidney transplant. Coming from a large family in Monson, Massachusetts, we all scheduled physicals to see if we were matches. There were many possible matches, but the best was his sister Ginger.
Jamie and Ginger grew up in Monson with two loving parents and many cousins that were always close by. They have since both moved outside the state. Jamie is now a rancher and lives in Texas with his wife and three children. He loves being a dad, coaching soccer, and tending to his animals. Ginger lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and two children. She is an Avon Representative, a soccer coach and loves to stay fit.
After many tests, much waiting and postponements, a date (May 22, 2012) was finally set for the surgery.
Since we can’t all be there to help out and care for them, the family in Massachusetts decided to gather together and show our support. All the women in our family put green extensions in our hair. We set a date and met at the family barn in our green so we could take pictures. We wanted to let Jamie and Ginger know that we were thinking of them. We had the green in our hair, on our shirts, pants, shoes, toenails, “Donate Life” bracelets, and the National Kidney Foundation logo on the top of our barn. We posted our family pictures on facebook so Jamie and Ginger could see them before the surgery.
We are proud and happy to say that both Jamie and Ginger are doing very well. Jamie was just playing basketball with his children and Ginger is making her way home to Pennsylavnia. We wish them a speedy recovery and send all our love. We want them to know that no distance can come between the love of a great family!
Thank you for helping us share our story and showing our love from miles away.
Love, the Tassinari family
